Care & Maintenance
As with any solid wood or pref-finished product, maintenance is crucial to the longevity and appearance of your bamboo floors!
Bamboo
Bamboo Flooring provides a longstanding low maintenance floor when easy steps are followed on a regular basis.
- Always start off with dust and dirt removal by soft sweeping or vacuuming your bamboo floor.
- Remember that regular cleaning prevents dirt build-up and damage with sand and dirt particles acting as sandpaper to the surface of the bamboo floor. It will be important to ensure all furniture used on the bamboo floor will be covered with felt pads on the legs. Heavy furniture dragging on the floor will certainly scratch your bamboo floor. Lift heavy furniture when moving on the bamboo floor.
- Make use of a microfiber mop NOT the standard spaghetti mop. Maintain absolute minimal moist exposure and water on the bamboo floor.
- When water does spill – wipe away spills promptly!
- Remove outdoor footwear. Gravel, dirt, and water on the bottom of the shoes leave remains on the bamboo floor and will damage bamboo floors if not cleaned up soonest.
- NEVER use a steam mop. Steam mops generate steam that will penetrate the bamboo top layer and leave no marks at first but gradually build surface residue with compromising effects on bamboo floors.
- NEVER use abrasive cleaning products. Acidic, abrasive, and cleaning products that contain ammonia can cause irreparable damage to your bamboo floor.
- NEVER use wax or furniture polish to ‘clean’ your bamboo floor. Furniture polish, oils, and wax leave a slippery residue on the surface and should be avoided. A PH-neutral wood floor cleaning spray is ideal and will clean without leaving any residue or streaks.
Vinyl & Laminate & SPC And Restored Oregon Original FLOORS
Vinyl flooring can withstand a lot of abuse, even in high-traffic areas of a house, but
still needs care and cleaning to keep up the best looks.
still needs care and cleaning to keep up the best looks.
- Wipe up spills with plain water as soon as they appear to prevent the top decorative layer to be affected by stains and dis-colouring of the top surface.
- Best will always be to vacuum or dry mop (with a micro-fiber mop) all floors.
- The market hint is to mix a solution of apple cider vinegar with water (diluted 1:10parts) HOWEVER always wipe it on and wipe it off with clean water. If marks or stains show more intense cleaning – add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to remove.
- Clean baking soda used on vinyl floors will be harmful. However, as floors show lasting marks; baking soda diluted with lemon juice (diluted 1:20parts) can help. ALWAYS wipe on and wipe off.
- Don’t use any wax, polish, or any oils to “clean” vinyl floors. These will only build up on the surface and alter the surface’s original finish. Warranties on products will become void if any of these products will be detected during inspections.

Engineered Wood
Hardwood floors or more known as Engineered wood floors withstand humidity and that makes it a popular option for kitchens and bathrooms. No hardwood floor will respond well to water exposure for long periods. Excess water can still seep through cracks and joints causing warping and damage. 5 easy points to clean Hardwood / Engineered floors:
- Clear all debris. Vacuum floors often to prevent scratching and “sanding” the surface of hardwood floors.
- Light wet microfiber mopping cleans off most marks.
- Avoid harsh chemicals and ammonia products.
- Wipe spills immediately, before the moisture has a chance to get to the wood to cause damage.
- Best to avoid things that may cause scratches, marks, and indentations in
wood top layers.
